NORTH CAROLINA HOLIDAY

CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS WITH CARL WHITE
By Doc Lawrence

"We Wish You a Merry Christmas"
SHELBY, North Carolina- The beautiful art deco Don Gibson Theatre presented Carl White’s “Life in the Carolinas” holiday gala, a sold-out music-filled event for both a live audience and television viewers.

Shelby is the city that gave the music world the king of the 5-sting banjo Earl Scruggs and Don Gibson, a songwriter-singer with few peers. Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Elvis and Patsy Cline and many others recorded his songs. The onstage program last Saturday featured a medley of Gibson’s hits including “I Can’t Stop Loving You.” The 90-minute show featured Bluegrass, Gospel, R&B and Jazz that combined to send everyone home feeling the warm spirit of the holiday season.

Here’s Carl White’s wonderfully entertaining “Old Fashioned Christmas” shown on FOX46 in Charlotte.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx7LIKAYVko#t=745
